The 2-Day Mount Toubkal Ascent Trek is an exhilarating adventure that takes you to the summit of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in Northern Africa. This professional overview provides a glimpse into the thrilling experience that awaits you.
Immerse yourself in the stunning landscapes of the Atlas Mountains as you embark on this challenging trek. The journey begins in Imlil, a picturesque village nestled in the heart of the mountains. From there, you’ll venture through awe-inspiring valleys, traverse rugged terrain, and pass by traditional Berber villages.
As you ascend towards the Toubkal Refuge, located at 3207 meters, you’ll witness breathtaking panoramas of towering cliffs, gushing rivers, and snow-capped peaks. The refuge serves as a resting point, allowing you to recharge before the final push to the summit.
After a delicious breakfast, we will embark on an exciting journey to conquer the majestic Jebel Toubkal. Our first destination is Imlil village, which is approximately a 1-hour and 30-minute drive from Marrakech. As we begin our trek, we will venture along the enchanting Ait Mizane Valley, passing through the charming village of Aremd. Our path then leads us to the revered shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, an important site for both tourists and pilgrims.
Continuing our ascent, we will traverse the flood plains and follow the mule tracks that wind their way up the rugged cliffs overlooking the valley. Crossing the river, we will be greeted by the pastoral shrine of Sidi Chamarouch, surrounded by serene natural beauty. From here, the trail steadily climbs, taking us through mesmerizing zigzag paths until we reach the snowline (during winter) and finally arrive at the Toubkal Refuge (3207m), where we will spend the night. The total walking time for this leg of the journey is approximately 4 to 5 hours, and the elevation gain is 1507m from Imlil to the Toubkal Refuge
Rise and shine! Today, we set out early in the morning to conquer the summit of Jebel Toubkal, the highest peak in Northern Africa. Our route takes us through the south cirque, where we will cross the stream above the refuge. While the path is relatively straightforward, the steep incline and high altitude will pose challenges along the way. However, the breathtaking views that unfold before us make the journey truly worthwhile.
As we reach the summit, prepare to be awe-struck by the panoramic vistas that stretch in every direction. From the Marrakesh Plain to the majestic High Atlas Mountains in the north, and even as far south as the Anti-Atlas and the Sahara Desert, the scenery is simply awe-inspiring. After savoring these unforgettable views, we will retrace our steps, descending to the refuge where we will enjoy a well-deserved lunch.
Following our meal, we will bid farewell to the Toubkal Refuge and begin our descent towards Imlil. The total walking time for this day is approximately 9 to 10 hours, and we will descend a total of 960m from the refuge to the Toubkal peak.
Once we arrive in Imlil, we will conclude our incredible trekking adventure and return to Marrakech, where you can reflect on the memories of this extraordinary journey.
